Nick Kyrgios battled past Stan Wawrinka in a thoroughly entertaining battle in Acapulco on Thursday night, booking his spot in his first hard-court semi-final in over a year with a 7-5 6-7(4) 6-4 triumph that lasted two and a half hours and packed plenty of passion.
After last night's stunning upset of Rafael Nadal, Kyrgios stepped up and proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that he could back up his sixth career win over a Top 2 ranked player and he was the more opportunistic player early on as he claimed the opening set with a break of serve in Wawrinka’s final service game.
